There's plenty to do and see in Wycheproof.
Take a walk down the iconic main street of Wycheproof known simply as Broadway and enjoy the jam-packed gift stores. Because shopping makes us hungry, take time to have lunch at the Royal Cafe, Bakery or Mt Wycheproof Cafe. If you still have time up your sleeve take a look around Jimmy Johnson's Coin Art Gallery.
Walk or drive to the summit of Mt Wycheproof and photograph yourself on the smallest registered mountain in the world. After you have enjoyed the sights of Mt Wyche make sure you collect a certificate from the Wycheproof Post Office or the Mt Wycheproof Cafe. Need to know more about this intriguing town's past? Walk or drive back down Broadway past the old rail precinct to Willandra Museum (open weekends or by arrangement). Scour through the extensive array of farming, private and public artifacts. Truly a museum to behold.
Pitch a tent in the shady Wycheproof Caravan Park or pull into the Mt Wycheproof Motel. Pick up a hamper from the delicatesson at the Foodworks Supermarket and take a walk up to the summit of Mt Wycheproof and enjoy your deli delights alfresco with a view of the surrounding plains. If you happen to over indulge take the long way home by walking the perimeter of the mountain and on the Mt Wycheproof Walking Track.
Head to Broadway and take the time to look through the extensive gift lines at the Post Office Gift Shop, Art & Craft Shop and McLennan's Giftware. Grab yourself a book from the Post Office, an ABC books seller, and take the time to read a good book in the calming surrounds of Centenary Park beneath the beautiful old pines. The botanically minded will enjoy a wander to the Wycheproof Nursery located one kilometre down the Birchip Rd.
For dinner the two local pubs provide counter meals that would rival any of our urban counterparts. Chat to the locals and enjoy a cool drink.
If you are feeling energetic the following day make use of the local recreational facilities and have a hit of tennis, golf (in winter), or perhaps take a dip at the classic country swimming pool.
Make sure you make it to Willandra Museum and the Coin Art Gallery before you make your journey home.
